-The Co-op recently announced plans to move all operations from our physical hardware to new cloud based servers.  See the announcement here - https://bc.libraries.coop/news/moving-servers/ +Co-op Support is continuing work to streamline the circulation modifier list.

-What does this mean for Sitka & Sitka’s Evergreen? +We will be removing the following circulation modifiers and any associated circulation policies on **June 5th**:

 +  * 1-day-loan
 +  * 2-day-loan
 +  * 2-hour-loan
 +  * 3-day-loan
 +  * 7-day loan
 +
+Items still using these circulation modifiers on June 5th will be updated to use “book” instead.
 +
+__Why are we removing these modifiers?__
 +
+These circulation modifiers regularly cause confusion as using them doesn’t automatically apply the loan period in their name. If you want items to circulate differently based on their circulation modifier you must first request that Co-op Support set up a new circulation policy for your library for the specified circulation modifier.
 +
 +http://docs.libraries.coop/sitka/_circulation_policies.html#_changing_your_circulation_policies
 +
+This confusion means that items are not circulating as expected to your patrons and requires staff time both from your libraries and Co-op Support to resolve.
 +
+__What do you need to do before June 5th?__
 +
+Libraries with both circulation policies and items using those circulation modifiers will receive an email this week outlining what is currently in use so they can let us know what their policies and items should be updated to.
 +
+We recommend all libraries run a report using the Sitka Template “Title & Item Count by Shelving Location and Circulation Modifier”. Details on where to find the template and how to run it can be found here: http://docs.libraries.coop/sitka/_collection_management.html#_title_amp_item_count_by_shelving_location_and_circulation_modifier
 +
+If your collection does contain items using any of the above circulation modifiers you can run a report using the Sitka Template “Circ Modifier : Copies with Selected Circ Modifiers” to find out what those items are. Details on where to find the template and how to run it can be found here: http://docs.libraries.coop/sitka/_collection_management.html#_circ_modifier_copies_with_selected_circ_modifiers
 +
+Before June 5th update these items to use a different circulation modifier. You can modify the report output in a program like Excel and then upload the barcodes to Item Status for easy batch updating. http://docs.libraries.coop/sitka/_item_status.html#_upload_from_file_choose_file
 +
+Please contact Co-op Support if you have any questions.

 +**BC Libraries Cooperative Support Advisory – Sitka Follow-up on Co-op's April 19, 2024, Cyber-Security Incident**
 +
+BC Libraries Cooperative sent out a [[https://bc.libraries.coop/news/cyber-security-incident-april-19/ | Co-op wide notice]] on Wednesday April 24, 2024, about a security incident we experienced on April 19, 2024. We are now following up with members using specific Co-op services, as the incident had implications for your patrons’ information.
 +
+The leaked log file contained the email address of anyone who received an email and the phone number of anyone who received an SMS message from a Co-op service between March 27 to April 19, 2024. This includes Sitka patrons who received automated notifications by email or SMS message for things like checkout receipts, overdue notices, and holds notifications during that period.
 +
+Only the email addresses of people who received notifications or the phone number of people who received SMS notifications were leaked. The content of the notifications was NOT leaked. The leaked data does not say what the notifications were about, and it does NOT reveal any other information about patrons or their library use, such as checkouts and holds.
 +
+The exploit which allowed the attacker to gain access to this log file was closed on April 19, 2024.
 +
+Please follow this link to understand what libraries should do next to communicate with your patrons and others about this incident: [[https://bc.libraries.coop/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/april-19-incident-Sitka-Response.pdf]]

 +
+The Co-op recently announced plans to move all operations from our physical hardware to new cloud based servers.  See the announcement here - https://bc.libraries.coop/news/moving-servers/
 +
+**What does this mean for Sitka & Sitka’s Evergreen?**
 +
Moving 15 years worth of technology and services is a big job, especially as we aim to do so with little-to-no interruptions of service. Many of the Co-op's technical efforts will be focused on the cloud migration so we will not be upgrading Sitka’s Evergreen this year. Our next upgrade will be scheduled for late Spring 2025.  Moving 15 years worth of technology and services is a big job, especially as we aim to do so with little-to-no interruptions of service. -**BC Libraries Cooperative Support Advisory – Managing Library Staff Accounts**
-
-Over the last few months we’ve seen an increase in tickets related to managing library staff accounts so we wanted to share some tips.
-
-**Working Locations**
-
-When creating a new library staff account always make sure you add a working location to tell Evergreen what library or branch(es) the account should work at. Library staff accounts without working locations won’t work in the staff client. (http://docs.libraries.coop/sitka/_library_staff_accounts.html#_working_locations)
-
-
-**Passwords**
-
-If you forget or want to change the password for your library staff account there are multiple ways to reset it.
-
-All libraries should follow the password guidelines laid out in Sitka’s Evergreen Policy & Best Practices Manual to help keep Sitka’s Evergreen secure. Passwords should not be saved in the browser. (http://docs.libraries.coop/policy/_access_to_sitka_8217_s_evergreen.html#_passwords)
-
-
-**Closing Staff Accounts**
-
-When a staff member leaves your library, their account should be closed in a timely manner to ensure only current staff have access to Sitka’s Evergreen.
-
-If the leaving staff member was using shared generic library staff accounts then make sure to change those passwords so that only current staff know them.
-
-
-Please contact Co-op Support at sitka@bc.libraries.coop if you have any questions.

-**BC Libraries Cooperative Support Advisory - 3rd Party Service Integration with Sitka’s Evergreen**
-
-Co-op Support frequently receives requests from libraries to integrate 3rd party services with Sitka’s Evergreen.  These 3rd party services include products such as self-check, electronic resources, public workstation authentication, equipment lockers, etc.
-
-While vendors of 3rd party services may give the impression that integrating their services with the library’s ILS (Sitka’s Evergreen) should be ‘’easy’’ or straightforward this is most often not the case.
-
-New services and products need to be assessed by Co-op staff to determine if they can be securely integrated with Sitka’s Evergreen.  Libraries should expect it to take 3 to 6 months for this assessment to be completed from the time the request is submitted.
-
-Once a product is assessed and it’s determined that it can be integrated with Sitka’s Evergreen the timeline for implementing the product depends on several factors including Co-op staff availability, support from the vendor, and the library’s IT support expertise and availability.
-
-If you are thinking of purchasing a new service that needs to integrate with Sitka’s Evergreen please review our 3rd party integration policy (http://docs.libraries.coop/policy/_3rd_party_service_integration.html) and complete the 3rd Party Service Integration With Sitka’s Evergreen survey (https://survey.libraries.coop/917743?lang=en).
