======Create MARC records====== We will be using WorldShare to create original MARC records. Consult OCLC's instructions to [[https://help.oclc.org/Metadata_Services/WorldShare_Record_Manager/Bibliographic_records/MARC_21_view/Create_WorldCat_bibliographic_records|Create WorldCat bibliographic records]] - Go to [[https://natlnetwkforequitablelibsrv.share.worldcat.org/wms/cmnd/dashboard|OCLC WorldShare]] and log in (get login information from the Content Coordinator) - Click ''Metadata'' - Click ''Record Manager'' - You may like to double check that the record you want to create isn't on WorldCat already, use the Search function\\ {{:public:nnels:cataloguing:createmarc_001.png?600|}} - Click ''Create Record'' and in the pop-up window choose the correct Material Type Template\\ {{:public:nnels:cataloguing:createmarc_002.png?600|}} - Click the arrows to expand LDR and 008 to select the corresponding options for your item\\ {{:public:nnels:cataloguing:createmarc_003.png?600|}} - Fill in at least the following fields: 020 (if available), 100, 245, 260, 520, 650, and 655 - Consult OCLC [[https://www.oclc.org/bibformats/en.html|Bibliographic Formats and Standards]] - NNELS uses FAST and BISAC for 650; [[http://fast.oclc.org/searchfast/|searchFAST]] is a helpful resource for getting FAST headings and their Record IDs - For 655, consult NNELS [[public:nnels:cataloguing:metadata-cleanup:genre|Genre Taxonomy]] - [[public:nnels:cataloguing:update-marc-records|Updating MARC record sets using MarcEdit]] is a good place to start if you are not familiar with NNELS regular cataloguing - When you are done filling in the fields, click ''Record'' and ''Validate''; clear all the errors that may be present\\ {{:public:nnels:cataloguing:createmarc_004.png?600|}} - Once the record is validated, click ''Save'' and choose ''Add Record to WorldCat''\\ {{:public:nnels:cataloguing:createmarc_005.png?600|}} - To download the record you just created, the easiest is to use MarcEdit - Open MarcEdit - Go to Z39.50/SRU Client and search for your record - Consult how to conduct [[public:nnels:cataloguing:compile-marc-from-marcedit#b_individual_search|Individual Search]] if you are not familiar with the process - Download your record
