-====== How to Clean Up Book Metadata in Drupal  ======
-
-  - Login at https://nnels.ca using your account information
-  - Once you login, you should see a link called Shortcuts at the top of the page
-  - Click on Summary/Subjects Editor in the drop-down menu
-  - This will take you to a list of all our repository items (book records).
-    - **Select a Record Set that has not been completed.** To determine if a Record Set has been completed, see the Completed Records Set wiki page. Add the name of the record set you're working on to the wiki page, if it's not already there. When you get through all the records in the set, be sure to mark your initials down!
-    - For each book you can see at a glance: Title, Summary, Subject(s), LitFormat, Genre, Audience, Pub (this stands for Published and tells us whether the book is published in NNELS).
-    - You can quickly see what fields are missing from each book, and you can change the search criteria to only display books that are missing any or all of subjects, summaries, genres, literary format, and audience.
-    - You can also choose to display only those books that are published by selecting Yes in the Published drop-down field - you should start editing those records that are Published first.
-  - Click on the edit link (in the far right column)
-  - This will take you to the book record. You just need to worry about the Genre/Formats and Subjects/Descriptors sections.
-  - You want to check that there’s data in all of these fields:
-    - **Genre** - the terms must be separated by commas; if the term contains more than one word then it must be surrounded by double quotation marks. Select Genre terms from the lists on the Genre Taxonomy page.
-    - **Literary Format** - select one from the drop-down menu
-    - **Subject** - the more subject keywords, the better; the terms must be separated by commas; if the term contains more than one word then it must be surrounded by double quotation marks
-    - **Audience** - select one from the drop-down menu (except "specialised", please don't use "specialised")
-    - **Abstract** - you can copy and paste from Amazon, WorldCat, or the publisher’s website; clear all formatting when done (highlight text and click that white eraser icon)
-  - Sometimes you may notice that the **Title** of a book contains weird formatting or is missing punctuation - please fix this to the correct title! (you can fix it by updating the title field in the Basic Details section)
-===== Assigning Genres =====
-
-Select from the genre terms found on this page of the wiki.
-
-===== Assigning Subject Keywords =====
-
-OCLC Classify
-
-Use OCLC Classify to help you assign subject keywords to books. Use the **FAST Subject Headings**.
-
-For example, the FAST Subject Headings for The Reluctant Communist are: Manners and customs, Korea (North), "Jenkins, Charles Robert, 1940-", Military deserters, United States, Americans, Defectors, "Korean War (1950-1953)"
-
-===== Assigning Data to Other Fields=====
-
-For assigning missing audience, literary format, and other metadata to NNELS records, we recommend using the following resources to help you out:
-
-  * WorldCat
-  * Public library catalogues, i.e. Vancouver Public Library
-  * Evergreen - you can search for a title in Evergreen and view the MARC records created by many other libraries
-
-===== Q&A =====
-
-**Q: Another metadata question! I've come across two works so far that I cannot determine what they are about or provide any metadata for because they are in "Chinese" (not sure if it's Mandarin or Cantonese). It might be a long shot, but do we have a Chinese staff member with NNELS or the BC Coop who might be able to help out? Alternatively, I can have a friend look at them, but would have to share the audio files with them and I know I can't do that without permission. Any suggestions? SysCtrl #'s: S00004 and S00077 - Jenn**
-
-A: I searched Amazon using title and author, and it looks like S00004 is this title: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Fortune-misfortune-blessing-new-version/dp/9861859748
-
-As for S00077, I think this is the sequel to "Blue blood man": https://translate.google.ca/translate?hl=en&sl=zh-CN&u=https://www.amazon.cn/%25E5%259B%259E%25E5%25BD%2592%25E6%2582%25B2%25E5%2589%25A7-%25E5%258D%25AB%25E6%2596%25AF%25E7%2590%2586/dp/B001FWY90Y&prev=search
-
-If you dig deeper you may be able to find further helpful metadata elsewhere, otherwise we can just work with what we can!
-
-**Q: I've noticed that most authors are listed like so in the NNELS catalogue: LastName, FirstName. However, there are some that are listed "FirstName LastName" - is there a preference? Also, there were a few titles that have a period or a slash at the end of the title (or were missing "The" or "A" at the beginning of the title) that I edited to reflect the correct title as written by the author. Is this okay? - JL**
-
-A: In terms of Author names, the preference is "lastname, firstname". Ideally our records would follow the LOC Name Authorities which are in this format. In terms of Titles, you can remove any punctuation at the end of the title and add "The" or "A" to the beginning, as you're doing.
-
-
-**Q: I am working on metadata, and I came across a case where I wasn't sure how to classify a version of The Holy Bible (in terms of fiction, non-fiction, etc...). My inclination was to write "Fiction" but I thought this might offend some more... devout... NNELS users, so I went with "Unknown"? Was this correct or should I change it? -Jenn**
-
-A: Interesting question! I agree with your classification choice. :)
